Re: Simple Questions & Answers
Sorry for all the questions, but what are the differences between running gold/silver, and crystal? I believe sprout tower is not needed in crystal, but are there any other major/minor differences?
Re: Simple Questions & Answers
The trainer/spinner locations are different so in Gold you have to fight some extra compared to Crystal. So even though they look familiar if you have more spinners/more trainers to fight they aren't comparable

Re: Simple Questions & Answers
Does anyone know if there is any sort of RNG manipulation in the GSC games? It wouldn't be as exploitable as say 4th gen and above, but maybe there is something to ease all those Totodile resets?

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

anyway, i'm curious about how pokerus actually functions in gen ii games. i mean in the aspect of how the game treats it i guess? or how it is programmed. like how shinies come about from dvs and wondering what values does the game look at for pokerus.
if you have anything to say i'll listen , thanks

Pokerus is defined by a byte in the pokemon's data structure. Bulbapedia is your friend and should explain it pretty well about how it is programmed. Hope you know anything about RAM adresses and values, because that is worse than chinese to me

Does anyone have the notes for the old gold glitched route? The crazy colors one?
Why the fuck is there a rainbow deer thing on the side of this page?

Where can I find a list of trainer stats (or DVs) for Gen 2 games?

For Crystal at least, DVs for each trainer class are in in trainers/dvs.asm in pokecrystal.Exarion wrote:Where can I find a list of trainer stats (or DVs) for Gen 2 games?
The trainers/ directory also has some other information about the trainers, like who has which AI properties, who has which items to use, and which Pokémon have moves they wouldn't otherwise have.

I enjoy nice assembly dives.

Re: Simple Questions & Answers
If you didn't figure it out yourself yet, .asm files are just text files at their heart, much like most other program source code files. So anything like Notepad will open them (but preferably something a little better like Notepad++, assuming you're on Windows anyway)
Re: Simple Questions & Answers
Actually, I fear Notepad won't open them, since it can't deal with Unix newlines. The whole file will just be jumbled on one line, unreadable. I am the person who has ruined Gold Glitched forever and seconhandedly, Red NSC too

Re: Simple Questions & Answers
Oh yeah, that's a problem with Notepad in particular. The super lazy answer is just to use Wordpad (who ever uses that?) but getting something else is much more advisable. Alternatively, just view them on github's online interface.
Re: Simple Questions & Answers
I see entries for rival1 and rival2. Do we know what the DVs for Rival 3, 4 and 5 are?
EDIT: I think I've figured it out from the trainers.asm file (rival1 = all the rival fights before the Elite Four).

All of the rival fights in the run being of rival1 class looks right to me after checking the relevant map scripts.Exarion wrote:I see entries for rival1 and rival2. Do we know what the DVs for Rival 3, 4 and 5 are?
