Pokemon Red/Blue Category Rules

Any% Glitchless (ENG)
  • Video proof is required for all submissions.
  • Timing is by RTA, where timer starts at New Game and ends when screen fades to white after Hall of Fame in game time is shown.
  • Saving and quitting (S + Q) is allowed.
  • Runs must be done on English version.
  • Using a Poké Doll on Marowak is allowed.
  • Digging from within buildings is allowed.
  • Talking to the Bike Shop owner without having the Bike Voucher to temporarily gain instant text is not allowed.
  • Glitches such as trainer-fly, old man, et cetera are not allowed.
  • Having a save file present on the cart/emulator when you start the run is not allowed. You can use Up+B+Select on the title screen to clear your save data.
  • The Super Game Boy peripheral for the SNES runs at an inaccurate framerate, and is therefore banned. Super Game Boy 2 is allowed, however.
  • All variants of Game Boy Tower have inaccurate emulation, and are therefore banned.
  • The only allowed emulator is the latest release of Gambatte-Speedrun with a GBC bios image.
  • All other emulators are banned.
  • Emulator times do not qualify for "WR".
  • If using emulator, using save states and speedup for any reason (including reaching the New Game screen faster) is not allowed.
  • Using emulator to create custom palettes that are not usable on any kind of official console is not allowed.
  • If using emulator, you must do one of the following to prove your run is using the correct emulator:
    1. Hard reset the emulator using Ctrl-R or the menu option before the start of every individual attempt, and include the footage of that reset in your run submission video
    2. Capture the entire emulator including the window border for the submitted video. An example can be seen here:

  • Video proof is required for all submissions.

  • Saving and quitting (S + Q) is allowed.
  • Runs must be done on English version.
  • Save Corruption is not allowed.
  • Glitches that allow you to directly change Pokédex flags are not allowed.
  • Acquiring the glitch move "Cooltrainer" is not allowed.
  • LGFly, oobLG, and all other mass farming glitches are banned.
  • Other glitches (trainer-fly, old man, etc) are allowed.
  • Having a save file present on the cart/emulator when you start the run is not allowed. You can use Up+B+Select on the title screen to clear your save data.
  • The Super Game Boy peripheral for the SNES runs at an inaccurate framerate, and is therefore banned. Super Game Boy 2 is allowed, however.

Reverse Badge Order (ENG)
  • Video proof is required for all submissions.
  • Timing is by RTA, where timer starts at New Game and ends when screen fades to white after Hall of Fame in game time is shown.

  • All badges must be acquired by battling the corresponding gym leader
  • All badges must be acquired in the order opposite to which they appear on the trainer card (Earth, Volcano, Marsh, Soul, Rainbow, Thunder, Cascade, Boulder).
  • Save Corruption is not allowed.
  • Other glitches (trainer-fly, old man, etc) are allowed.
  • Having a save file present on the cart/emulator when you start the run is not allowed. You can use Up+B+Select on the title screen to clear your save data.
