Pokemon Blue All Trainers

Post by MyNameIsShuckle » Sun Sep 11, 2016 7:22 am

The goal of this categoey is to beat every trainer in Pokemon Blue
and make it to the Hall of Fame.

NEW PB: 6:32:46
Poke used: Blastoise
HM Slaves: Pidgey, Bellasprout, Lapras

I think this category could be super fun if highly optimized.
I feel that sub 6 is possible currently.

This Includes every trainer in every gym(fighting the leader
Before the trainers is an automatic dq of the run), every silph rocket,
every swimmer, every trainer in vic. Road, the s.s. anne, cerulean cave etc etc.

Tips:
Theres a trainer in front of cerulean cave, you need surf to get to her
No trainers in Power Plant, INSIDE seafoam islands, the safari zone and diglett cave
Some trainers in The Burnt Mansion have no vision but you can still battle them.

To Do:
Count how many trainers total
Count how many on each route
Route sabrinas gym for a faster way to find all 7 trainers quickly
Route better menuing

If youd like to contact me about possible races,
Notes, ideas, tips, etc. Feel free to add me on skype: Hillkiller0

I remember doing this in a Yellow randomizer race 2 years ago, this was before Instant Text in randomizers was a thing. My time was a few seconds over 7 hours, and it wasn't super optimized or anything. Obviously it's a randomizer so you have Pokemon you can't normally use, and I had a moveset with tons of pp, but it's still a decent baseline. Yellow also has a few more trainers than Red/Blue do.

I think sub-6 can easily be possible with the right route and pp planning. It would be cool to route out.

Also 2 other fights you didn't mention that are easily forgotten are "Rival 2" west of Viridian before beating Brock, and the guy outside of Power Plant. And then the entire Rocket Hideout that you skip in glitchless. Other than you shouldn't miss any of them, but it's very easy to forget about one if you don't have counters for how many are in total.
I am the person who has ruined Red "Glitchless" forever and seconhandedly, Blue NSC Single Segment too

One other trainer who is very easy to forget is the Lass just outside the entrance of Cerulean cave.

Sounds interesting, Yellow version seems to be the direction to take this in, I might do a run of that today actually, but I might just choose blue version, it's very interesting and there shouldn't be a way to lose battles besides before mt. moon because you'll be hitting every trainer along the way. It seems lengthy but worth the time

Are we looking at Pokemon Blue for this or Pokemon Yellow? It sounds like both, I think this would be fun to put together.

Edit - Last Night and This Morning I worked out a route for Pokemon Blue until the end of Mt. Moon, let me know if anyones interested in looking at this category.
Edit 2 - http://pastebin.com/n7gjeMeG For a guide, it's not the most optimized route, but this is what I've worked out up until the end of Route 11, this does miss out the Lass outside Mt. Moon but as you need Surf to get her, I'm not sure whether it would be quicker late game to get her and beat .the Jr. Trainer in the grass at the same time. I will post this to Speedrun.com as well as hopefully that gets some kind of discussion going.
