Re: Unique Emblems for Pokemon Speedruns

No reason why this can't happen. If someone designs decent icons (would the actual item icons from the games work as is? Doubt it but maybe...) and posts them on here then one of the series mods can send them in to Pac to be added.

Re: Why the current TCG leaderboards make no sense

That's fine, I was more concerned that this was going to die quietly like other similar causes and not actually achieve anything when the desire for change is clearly there. The discussion should continue until you guys actually come to a solid agreement (or at least until there's been a decent peri...

Re: Why the current TCG leaderboards make no sense

Bump for a reminder that this is still unresolved. If you guys can work out a clear start/end for RTA timing and the amount that should be added to no tutorial runs to get a "final time", this can be pushed onto the leaderboards. As Werster indicated, runs that skip tutorial should/would not be elig...

Re: Another Attempt at a PSR Marathon?

Actually getting one of these going before SGDQ/ESA would be pretty neat (or after if doing all the organization that fast proves impractical, which I could totally see). I would be willing to help out with the organization/tech side of things this time, but I don't personally have good enough inter...

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

This problem is caused by not "menu flashing" before you try to get the Missingno encounter. To prevent this, make sure you always open and close the menu after you are sent back to Saffron City when Machop kills you before going to get the encounter on Route 7.

Re: Self-verification

As of recently there is an option for mods to not self-verify their own runs now. However, that is something selected on a run by run basis when the mod submits the run and there is no option to disable self-verification on a per-game or per-series basis. Not sure if such a thing is planned either. ...

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

It's not TAS only, it's a new strat for Yellow NSC in particular since Dry Underflow came out. Before, we were tied to the location of the fresh water and so it was fastest to warp from the place we achieved underflow, a.k.a. the guardhouse itself. Now we warp from the closest available house after ...

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

Oh yeah, that's a problem with Notepad in particular. The super lazy answer is just to use Wordpad (who ever uses that?) but getting something else is much more advisable. Alternatively, just view them on github's online interface.

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

If you didn't figure it out yourself yet, .asm files are just text files at their heart, much like most other program source code files. So anything like Notepad will open them (but preferably something a little better like Notepad++, assuming you're on Windows anyway)

Gen1 save data rule

This is a rule that has been implicitly enforced until now, but I've made it explicit on the leaderboard rules since a few runs have been submitted for NoSC in particular with save data present at the beginning of the run: Having a save file present on the cart/emulator when you start the run is not...

16 Special/Pidgey Strats: Your party must be set up as follows 1st slot -> Bulbasaur with 16 Special (any level, any PP) 2nd slot -> Pidgey, current HP must be one of these values: 8, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17. Speedrun.com Moderator Selection Update

Hello all, We have gone through all the mod applications to date and accepted a large number of mods for various games. As there was not a massive excess of applications, most applications were accepted - provided the applicant was qualified. If your application was not accepted, it was for one of t...

Re: Putting the leaderboards on speedrun.com

(this post is intended to be my own opinion, though I guess it represents the opinions of forum admin team to some extent anyway) I agree with this idea in principle and think it should be a thing, though we need to take some time to get it right. There are a few main things to overcome to get this ...

After talking it over with the other admins we think this is a good idea and would like to go through with it.

Did you want to use affiliate image links or just text links? Either is fine really, but we don't have an affiliate-sized image to use yet.

Re: Conquest shift to RTA timing

What lucky said is pretty much correct. We don't force spinoff games to use any particular method of timing - it's up to the community. If there is widespread belief within the community for Conquest that the ingame timer is not a fair means of comparison (and the bug you mention would seem to sugge...

Re: Ruby Discussion

Read over Amoeba's "notes" on the wiki and they seem pretty solid apart from a minor things (Groudon doesn't need any X Specials, lol). Does the 3rd Bulk Up on Steven allow you to onehit whatever comes out last through Reflect, or is it just for safety? Claydol itself needs like +6 to be onehit so I...

Re: Ruby Discussion

What I came up with was (this includes everything Lucky said, since I was using RouteThree for the routing): (this should be obvious, but bulk = Bulk Up, which is in Groudon's starting set. The only move I'd potentially teach would be Strength over Slash to speed up drake maybe.) wallace - bulk*1 EQ...

Re: Ruby Discussion

STAB EQ from your 150 base Attack and sun-boosted Fire Blast carry you through pretty much every fight except Drake pretty well. Even on the couple of fights that can hit you super effectively, you have plenty of bulk to survive the time required to setup to wreck house. Unfortunately, Drake is a hu...

Re: Can we have seperate leaderboards for Ruby?

I did indeed say that, and the reason for my skepticism there is that every time someone asks for Ruby boards there are always a lack of actual runs to back up the request. If you guys want this to happen, show us real proof that there is a desire for it - complete serious runs of Ruby any% glitchle...

To elaborate on what Lucky said, level 10 has the B-holding requirement, level 8 doesn't require any extra buttons (but you must keep moving) and levels 7/9 just don't work.
