Re: Consistent Trainer ID Manipulation in GSC

100% consistent D8 Trainer ID manip for BGB with GBC bios thanks to UnderscorePoY: 1) Clear save (before each set of runs, you don't need to do this for every individual run) 2) Hard reset 3) Hold B+Start until titlescreen appears and disappears again 4) Hold A until New Game is pressed 5) Enjoy 555...

Re: Consistent Trainer ID Manipulation in GSC

Usable setup for BGB with GBC bios (single input timing): Clear your save and have New Game pressed at least once after the save clear as usual. Setup EonTimer with a delay of about 8050ms (see entr's post) or use LiveSplit with a delay of around -8.15 to -8.2 seconds (for me, at least, it takes lon...

Re: PSR Marathon 2016 - Another one?

Being based around a weekend is almost a necessity for an online marathon with a more limited pool of runners based off previous experience, though hopefully we can get a decent amount of people able to run on Friday and/or Monday to make it roughly the same length as last year's marathon. August 5t...

Re: PSR Marathon 2016 - Another one?

As a personal opinion, I don't think it should be a charity marathon either. Adds a ton of extra organizational overhead and would be overshadowed by all the other big charity marathons going on in summer. It sucks a bit not having the donation incentive excuse to do wacky extras, but if there are g...

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless

Quickly addressing "IT from a save file" vs "Bike Shop IT" - they are actually two different systems entirely within the game code. The difference is that the Bike Shop IT variant is activated by the game quite often to render certain text instantly that is intended to be rendered instantly to begin...

Re: Question about national language of pokemon

Mccully pretty much hit the nail on the head here. Most Japanese versions (not all!) have significantly faster text, but this particular community has standardized into using the English versions of main series games because of how text-driven Pokemon games are. There are minor differences other tha...

Request/suggestion by gifvex - Red/Blue AI battles
Red / Blue

In this minihack you have no control over your own move choices - they are selected by the game's "good" AI (all clauses 1-3 activated). Be very afraid!

Unofficial Leaderboards Forum Trial started

Due to increased interest by PSR community members in running unofficial categories / ROM hack categories over the last few weeks/months, it has been decided that we will offer a forum to provide a semi-organized home for leaderboards for these speedruns. The forum has now been created, and can be f...

Rules for this specific area

Welcome to the Unofficial Leaderboards forum! This forum is intended to serve as a semi-organized home for leaderboards of unofficial categories of unmodified games and/or ROM hack categories (which are by nature unofficial). Rules are one topic per leaderboard category . The topic creator serves as...

Re: Leaderboards (Romhacks/Other Categories)

gifvex has brought up a proposition in the discord chat regarding a possible compromise for ROM hack boards on the forums and after a small amount of thought I've decided that it would be a good idea to try. The idea involves a board being made on these forums where 1 topic = 1 challenge category/ro...

Re: Item Underflow question

No, this is what is meant to happen if you underflow your bag without it being full or near-full to begin with. The "j" items represent the remaining slots in the normal bag.

Re: *~ minihacks ~*

Are there going to be minihacks for generations after 1 and 2? Just wondering. Gen1 and Gen2 have really awesome disassemblies that let us make these kind of hacks very easily. Whilst gen3-5 hacking in general is obviously a thing, code hacking is much more difficult and inconvenient for us due to ...

Re: [VODs] Pokemon Speedruns Marathon 2015 VOD Thread

They were never local recorded as far as I can tell. The recording cuts not long after Roush beats Emerald's champion and the next one starts 14 minutes into FireRed. Looks like a minor host error.

Re: [VODs] Pokemon Speedruns Marathon 2015 VOD Thread

Bump for massive set of youtube uploads, as the Twitch VoDs are gone now. Shoutouts to Amoeba for maintaining this thread and Luckless for giving me the timestamps for the raw videos to eliminate a fair bit of tedious work. 4 runs to go, they should be available within a couple of days.

Re: How does the Text Pointer Manipulation really work?

Quick explanation of what's actually going on behind the scenes with TP Manipulation: The text pointer for each map points to a list of pointers, one for each interactable object/person/sign/etc on that map. Those pointers in the list then point to the script that controls the behavior of the object...

PSR Marathon 2015 - Host Scheduling/Applications

Hello everyone, The marathon is less than two weeks away, so with SGDQ over and done with we need to sort out a few more things so everything goes smoothly when the time comes. One of these things is figuring out who will be filling the role of stream "host" throughout the marathon. What will the ho...
