Re: State of the Sanqui Randomizer
I gave the games the names Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos if that's what you wanted, and I use the MyOldBoy emulator for Android Yeah, this is definitely not happening on bgb. The android emulator must be buggy, but I'll try to see if I can work around it anyway at one point. Thanks.

Re: State of the Sanqui Randomizer
Yeah maybe I shouldn't have touched it after all. Whoever is working on the randomizer there is a new bug that I found, when encountering a wild Pokemon it takes about 30-40 seconds sometimes longer for the player to send out their Pokemon, the music for the battle still plays while waiting though. ...

Re: State of the Sanqui Randomizer
I've fixed some of the most garish bugs and may be willing to put some more minor work in the randomizer again.

Re: State of the Sanqui Randomizer
Ok, yeah I saw that before but it doesn't have newer generation pokemon like yours does. I'm almost done batch processing the sprites from every pokemon game to the format that red can use. Not all look good, but I made a graph so I can select the best ones. If I continue this, I'll probably end up...

Re: State of the Sanqui Randomizer
I've got the working directory set up with all the sources but it seems the randomizer races I watch don't use yours anymore and I can't seem to figure out which one they are using. The one they use includes a instant text box, like you can basically skip all the text, unlike the instant text optio...

Re: State of the Sanqui Randomizer
Hi knuxyl, thanks for your interest! As I mentioned in the original post, the sprites are downloaded by the convert_sprites.sh script in the online-randomizer repository. I only ask that when you use the sprites you give credit to all the artists I list on my site. I've done many changes to the orig...

State of the Sanqui Randomizer
Hi! I made the Online Pokémon randomizer like two years ago at this point. Unfortunately, I haven't brought myself to work on it in a long time, which I feel really bad about. If anybody is perhaps interested in taking over or maintaining it, here's everything you need to know. State of the Randomiz...

Re: Clarity on criteria for determining official categories
Gonna note here that the barrier of entry for Challenge Mode is pretty high... You need White 2 and you need access to a second DS and a Black 2 cartridge with a beaten game.

Re: Bike Shop Instant Text Discussion/Ruling
Possibly unpopular/niche opinion incoming. My definition of a glitch is undefined behavior. This is distinct from bugs. Glitches may happen as a result of a bug, but there are also bugs that do not result in any glitches. Redbar is such an example, as long as other mechanics, such as Gen 1 miss and ...

I believe it affects both. I'm not sure how significant the delays are, though. Could just be a few seconds over the course of the entire run.

SGB2 ought to be fine, just keep in mind you're losing time due to the palette change delays.

Re: Hard resets in runs and DMG mode on CGB games
In my opinion... Hard resets should be allowed in emulators when provided with a bootrom ("BIOS"). While there is a slight time save since it's a single press and not two (on hardware, you need to flip the switch back and forth), that probably falls in the same category as the different input method...

Re: Emulators that must be banned
I believe VBA-M doesn't have a faster frame rate, but haas inaccurae bios function speeds, which speeds up loading. Bizhawk uses an older, forked Gambatte core. It's a little absurd, I believe they haven't contributed their changes back upstream. So it's confusing what has been fixed and what hasn't.

Re: Emulators that must be banned
I seem to remember that the Stadium emulator isn't cycle accurate - certain Pokémon sprites take a different time to decompress. Can't confirm offhand though

Yeah, sorry, my server is down at the moment. It's super annoying to me too. I'll probably get an actual VPS for my stuff, including the randomizer, soon.

Not much at the moment. We're still working on collecting sprites. It's not going to be ready for a few months.Sabertoothtigerz wrote:Is there any work being done to make this randomizer operational for pokemon gold/silver/crystal and that adds 721?

Re: Simple Questions & Answers
If you didn't figure it out yourself yet, .asm files are just text files at their heart, much like most other program source code files. So anything like Notepad will open them (but preferably something a little better like Notepad++, assuming you're on Windows anyway) Actually, I fear Notepad won'...

Also, when I went to fight snorlax, I played the pokeflute but didn't battle it and it still went away. Do you know what causes that? That's strange, I can battle Snorlax in my testing. Can you please give me your ROM filename? Hold on, reproduced... Rejoice, Snorlax has been fixed. Instead of rand...

Re: Sanqui's randomizer
Here's a fun thing I've come across playing through with the race preset. I'm assuming this only happens with randomized sprites, but in pokemon tower, after defeating the first rocket, the sprite disappears instead of walking offscreen and the game softlocks. Just a heads up in case you find a way...

Re: Red/Blue 150 co-op glitchless run on Friday
beware says that if you're going to test with bgb 1.5 and try to reproduce the link problems, he'd need a savestate before the bad transfer happens. He'd like to know if the glitches are caused by a long runtime of bgb, or if they also happen if starting bgb over and continuing. EDIT: Also, you said...
