WIP Low Experience Route for Top Times

The consolidated route I've posted on this forum is still applicable for race strategies and for achieving a sub-2 hour RTA run, but some new mid/late-game strategies have been found by routing around having a Nido with specifically 15 DV attack and 14 DV speed. Basically, the route fronts 2x candyi...

Re: Penalty for Emulator and GBI runs for r/b/y 151.

Assuming pokeguy and gifvex have listed accurate timings, the GBI is actually more accurate to the reset timing of the GBA console than the official GBP disc. It is a strange situation to be in as as community that software and hardware modifications to the gamecube console can significantly improve...

Consolidated Yellow Route

I've put all the routing info for running Yellow into a single document. It focuses on the Flareon/Blizzard route but discusses the changes necessary to run Vaporeon starts and Ice Beam/Gentleman safety strategies.

Re: Save and Quit RNG Manipulation

Courtesy of Dabomstew, there is an updated Save and Quit manipulation that has very good odds (about 90%) with DVs F9ED-FBEF (15 Attack and 14 Speed, with 9-11 Defense and 13-15 Special).

Save and Quit RNG Manipulation

Courtesy of Deleroth and Progreon we have an outline for consistently manipulating a 14/15 attack 14 speed Nidoran across runners and a good percentage of save instances. Also thanks to Stringflow for finding the emulator inaccuracy that led to on console testing. In my testing, yoloing the catch im...

Re: Getting Level 41 after Sabrina on Blizzard Route

If you happen to need to pickup multiple carbos for the lategame, you can use them at any point in cinnabar or pallet before picking up secret key and not candy to 46 in the mansion. From there you can candy twice to 48 after blackbelt and be back on the normal blizzard experience route, filling the...

Re: Getting Level 41 after Sabrina on Blizzard Route

The Vaporeon route gains an added benefit from gentleman candy in that top hiker isn't needed to compensate for lost rival experience throughout the rest of the run. You still easily clear 41 after Sabrina and the lategame leveling points don't change in any relevant way. Separately, in order to do ...

Getting Level 41 after Sabrina on Blizzard Route

There are several advantages to being at level 41 after Sabrina without having used rare candies in Koga's gym and without having done Erika: You can mom heal in Pallet Town without having to restore pp again before the elite 4 with great special. You can super repel->elixer (if no mom heal)->Rare C...

Re: New Spearow DSUM Charts

Attempt-Oriented Searches In order to maximize the chance of a successful DSUM during an attempt, some accuracy of the search window could be sacrificed to increase the number of encounter checks performed. However, by my calculations the decrease in accuracy outweighs the benefit from extra steps f...

Re: Judging Nido Stats from Damage Taken

If Pikachu loses the rival fight, it will be level 5 when fighting nido and can only have 8 or 9 defense. The damage ranges are actually the same as level 6 because rounding, just you don't know whether defense is 8 or 9 so the info is less precise. If Pikachu is L5, a 4 damage tackle guarantees 11-...

Judging Nido Stats from Damage Taken

When searching for a L6 Male Nidoran with strong stats, it can be possible to tell the attack and special of the nidoran based on the damage it does in battle. This is easiest done when the rival battle is won and pikachu's defense can be checked. Pikachu should have a defense stat between 8 and 10 ...

Re: Route 1 to 2 DSum

An interesting note is that the DSUM tends to be less accurate when an encounter occurs further away from the last patch. the following are the average actual step offsets for the 5 grass patches: Patch 1: 42 steps Patch 2: 36 steps Patch 3: 26 steps Patch 4: 8 steps Patch 5: (count last few steps) ...

Great Ball vs Ultra Ball on Meditite

While testing 100% strats I realized that the ultra ball detour in Pyrite Cave might be applicable to Any%. Here's what I've found so far: The ultra ball detour takes 44-45 seconds of time, about 8 seconds more than an average turn against Twan (about 36 seconds). Using the Gen 3 catch rate formulas...

Re: Colosseum 100% or Ho-Oh% Routing

I confirmed that Remil's Vibrava and Baila's Sunflora can be efficiently caught pre-masterball, and that the first 50 floors of Mt. Battle can be easily used as purification for 2 of the 3 most difficult pokemon. Floors 50+ very likely need to be used to exp. train Espeon and Feraligatr for the last...

Colosseum 100% or Ho-Oh% Routing

I've started routing Colosseum Ho-Oh% now that I have some experience with playing the game. I've so far integrated 5 more catches into the main any% route due to their high catch rates. Catching them on this initial pass with the great ball is not essential, but getting at least 3 of the 5 that you...
