The manip is very similar but you will have to figure out timings for yourself as all players are different. For more help join our discord! https://discord.gg/0UUw8zDe2hWlwRsm

Re: The RTA switch and GBA emulators
We're aware of mGBA - but it hasn't been tested to be proved accurate at the moment. GBA emulators being hidden isn't necessarily just a thing that should happen for RTA, but for IGT too as both are inaccurate on emulator. Being hidden does not mean emulators are 'banned', it just means that they wi...

Re: Moving Forward With RTA: Timing Methods
I'm tired and ill right now and may want to gather all my thoughts later and make a longer post - but I'll just keep it short for now. I largely agree with Keizaron on everything, however I think that perhaps we should remove any extra time the player might have sat on the naming screen for on Gen3 ...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
You can't go universal with that since gen 4 never presses "new game". That would be the "Press Start" menu then. I'm talking about the button press before you enter the game's intro. I think we're not talking properly about things tbh, and I agree with entr and werster with this. Just because IGT ...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
That's why the arguments that are made from the vantage point of "IGT shouldn't be used for speedruns if it doesn't accurately measure real time" are so transparently insular. I feel this is somewhat of a strawman. The argument is not because it does not accurately measure real time, but because it...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
If we agreed to universal timing from reset, we would have to add the fastest possible "RTA start to the game that wasn't counted by IGT" to all runs from reset point. Same applies if we start from new game and IGT starts later. However, in cases like Emerald and FR/LG (where we currently start from...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
My idea when it came to this was people could start using EonTimer a little more frequently. While there is the annoyance of running another program, we could make the "true" timer more obvious this way. I agree this would be better, but many people dislike EonTimer. Another suggestion you made was...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
The Gen 1 thru Gen 3 Pokémon games have in-game timers that are very accurate in WHAT they measure (I have limited knowledge on Gen 4+ so can't speak to them). Yellow and Gen 3 have some notable distortions with respect to real-time, but these are minor distortions and have no significant impact on...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
Gonna quickly address a few things posted here Switching to RTA would cause many previously set times to be comparatively worse. Naming the rival "U" for example doesn't cost any time in IGT, but it would cost a second or so in RTA. It would also be very inconvenient to make the switch. We would hav...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
I may have more to say at a later date depending on the replies here, but for now I just wanted to mention a few things for timing, that were addressed in the Discord, if we do switch to RTA timing: Gen 1 should have the timer end after all Pokémon have been shown in the HoF, but before or during th...

Re: Pokemon Speedrun Leaderboard Change Opinion Rant
Just wanted to add one quick thing - although we should allow all speedruns on the leaderboards, it might be a good idea to not accept non-speedruns that are submitted (e.g. if somebody does a casual playthrough and just adds a timer with no intent in completing the game quickly or even perhaps doin...

Just ensure you're following the route and most should go swimmingly. Pidgey HP is normally the only large issue with the Pidgey route http://wiki.pokemonspeedruns.com/index. ... tion/Route

Re: Why is the 3DS VC version banned from NSC and Catch em All?
In a nutshell, the 3DS VC version emulates data differently.
As a result, during item underflow different items will appear than in the original copy of the games.
This means that the 3DS version would have an advantage in the area of money and potentially other things.

"True Double" AI
Recently in the Pokémon Emerald Discord channel, me and Shiru were discussing the AI of the True Double fight. With the help of Dabomstew, we looked into the battle's AI code and discovered that Tabitha was set to ".4byte 0x1 ; AI flags", while Maxie was set to ".4byte 0x7 ; AI flags". This means th...

Re: Pokemon Generation 3 Starter Manipulation Tool
It syncronises your timer with the in-game clock so that the time on LiveSplit will match the time RNG Reporter (or this application) produces for the Mudkip, as opposed to having to mentally adjust.

Re: PSR Marathon 2016 - Another one?
Okay so I think we should get a committee organised soon so we can begin making final decisions swiftly and effectively. So far I think the things we can confirm are: -Cost: Covered -Charity?: No, just for fun -Date: August 12th-14th (maybe 5th-7th, but VERY likely 12th-14th) -Streaming Software: OB...
