Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless

I just want to add that, if we're making these changes to the categories, we should make a no IT/no Poké Doll category as well... I know I already said this, and I'm only saying it again to make it clear how good of an idea it is, because I know people from outside the community aren't going to lik...

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless

My vote: Strongly disagree I was all in on the IT hype train when it was first discovered, and I still think there's just not a good enough reason to ban it. But the fact is simple: IT is just shit. It's not fun, not skillful, not interesting, and it's borderline glitchy. Most people feel miserable ...

Re: Bike Shop Instant Text Discussion/Ruling

Short version: Do not ban this. Long version: Right now as I see it, there's a lot of arguments for not banning this exploit and not a lot of valid arguments to ban it. First and foremost, we are speedrunners. Talking about what the game developers or designers or even programmers inteded is just no...

Re: Why the current TCG leaderboards make no sense

Agree 150%. Tutorial is boring, time wasting and not enjoyable, and you should never ever lose time on it if your doing speedruns cause you follow a script on very slow text speed. Most people actual refrain from doing runs because they have to do the 8 minute tutorial after every reset. Secondly, t...

Re: Making an updated guide

At Bill, instead of healing, roping, and healing again after goldeen, it's probably better to just rope, fight the goldeen, and only then heal, no? Maybe it's exactly the same time on some HP values, but that way you could probably get away using 1 less potion in certain scenarios (p.e. last potion ...

Re: Colour Palettes for Pokemon Red/Blue

Colour Palletes have been a thing since GBC. They don't tamper with IGT, they don't make rock tunnel faster, and you can still fuck up movement and hit a stander. It's just a safer strat. If you don't feel confident about rock tunnel movement, then use it. If you feel like you can do rock tunnel wit...

Re: pokemon used in runs across core series?

1. Go to http://wiki.pokemonspeedruns.com/index.php/FAQ_List 2. Expand desired game in desired category 3. Open FAQ of desired category 4. Expand "Which pokemon do you use in this run?" Question and check for desired answer. 4. If FAQ does not contain answer for the question, I'm actually and legitm...

Re: Introduce Yourself Here!

Sup, I'm Horou Ichigo, and no one can pronounce my name correctly Kappa I run gen 1 pokems, have a 1:58 in Red right now. Currently running Red and (trying to) Blue 151, once I get 1:55 in Red and sub-3 on 151, probably going to try and sub 2 yellow, and move on to gen 2 games because those are my f...

Re: Pauses during runs.

I PB Red! 1 5 8 hype!! Problem: My stream picnic'd for about 1 minute, during half a fight on the rocket on Pokemon Tower. Because I'm so good with software, my internal recording also stopped when I picnic'd because I know so much about OBS that didn't even checked the "Keep recording if live strea...

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

Just did a run and manage to see all the splits I can save time (except for rock tunnel, where I died because I had 0 DV special, but saved 2:30 mins on surge, 20 secs on koga, 40 secs on victory road and 35 secs on bruno just by not getting trolled by cans and correcting mistakes I did, that were n...

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

Thanks for all the awesome extensive answers! I've been running for not a long time (started looking into strats in mid May perhaps?), but I'm already very familiar with all the strats, just don't remember exactly all the numbers. I've done hiker until I got my 1st PB, and know how much better bridg...

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

For WG skip (and for runs in general) what are the exact exp you have to grind in mt moon for lvl 3 and 4? I know 4 is 138, which is 2 69 exp zubats (lvl 9, right?), but for 3, is it 178? What would be the optimal kills assuming WG skip and not WG skip?

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

Is the Lucario vs Lucario a speed tie or is your lucario always faster? Does lucario have set IV/DV's? Do hawlucha's stats matter or any would do? Are there any massive reset points?

Re: Simple Questions & Answers

Pokerus is defined by a byte in the pokemon's data structure. Bulbapedia is your friend and should explain it pretty well about how it is programmed. Hope you know anything about RAM adresses and values, because that is worse than chinese to me Kappa http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokerus#In...

Re: Who's still playing glitchless seriously?

When I get my 1:55 in red, i'm probably going to shift to yellow and try to sub 2, and having notes would definitely make me more likely to run it.

Re: Pauses during runs.

So if I have a run where I either paused the game or livesplit, it shouldn't be submitted to PSR? Because my first Red PB has 2 emulator pauses, one where I paused livesplit also because I had to adress spam in my chat (my stream is very low profile and didn't have any mods at the time and it was be...
