Pokemon's Twentieth Anniversary

This February (the 27th) is Pokem's twentieth anniversary. I've heard a few whispers around the discord channel about ideas that we could do to celebrate this special occasion. Disclaimer: NOT MY OWN IDEA The main idea that i saw and liked myself was to do a Gen 1-6 Main Series Tag-Team race. This w...

Quazi-less Emerald

I've been toying with this idea for quite some time, namely for an upcoming fun-run I wanted to do with emerald "catch all the possibles" run (because I'd dupe the masterball), and I finally did some calcs that make this stuff possible. Couple of things to note before you start jawing off at me... 1...

Re: PSR Marathon Game Submissions Discussion Thread

How long do you expect it to take until the actual weekend is chosen? We'll make the decision based on the submissions themselves. If there seems to be a greater number of runners (or a better variety of games) that are open to one of the weekends, we'll use that one. We probably won't make that ch...

Re: Guessing IVs on Generation 3 early

I've found that my variance in timing is usually between 55-65 frames... so I usually just make my final input about .9 or .8 seconds early on timer.

Re: Guessing IVs on Generation 3 early

I'm actually finding my method to work quite well for me. When I've been doing my runs with my new method, I find that I can hit my frame roughly 1 out of 5-6 GOOD tries at it (i.e. when i don't absolutely blank out and forget what i'm doing), but it has more to do with needed full concentration on ...

Re: Potential PSR Marathon 2015 - Organization Thread #1

I've just sent out a PM to all the people who were interested in joining the committee. If you're one of those people and you're reading this, check it out when you get a chance. If it isn't too late at this point, I'd like to apply for the Committee. My pitch: I have been part of the Pokemon Speed...

Re: Guessing IVs on Generation 3 early

Ohh, this being bumped reminded me; I was using the iv checker yesterday and, on a Quirky 13/10/9 mudkip, it gave about 100 results, all quirky but included ones with >20 atk ivs and <20 sp.atk ivs etc. Ok, so I guess I can't mentally keep hiding behind this facade that I'm "gone" anymore... I just...

Re: Another Attempt at a PSR Marathon?

Sorry that I haven't said anything on this topic for a while, but just showing up to say that i'd still be interested, but that I haven't had a lot of time to actually do much with this. If 2dos can restream, and maybe we can have 1 or 2 people do backup stuff with that, perhaps we can start off mak...

Re: Torrent strats for Archie

My argument against that is that the Mystic Water is very much useful for getting better ranges on BOTH TnL and the TrueDouble fight with Steven, Tabitha, and Maxie. If you want to use the Mystic Water for both of those fights, then you'd have to take it OFF after using a persim, which can waste pre...

Re: Emerald Spinnerless Routing

Corrections/clarifications: Bug Catcher Whatshisface shall be known as James Repelling before Flannery might not be the best choice (im sure you're talking right before the battle), but I do my repelling when i use teleport (and switch slot 1 with marshtomp), but I'm sure you'll still have the right...

this is news for me, when did we stop using persims for sydney?
I always use a persim in victory road when i do my last repel... so it makes little time difference

Re: Another Attempt at a PSR Marathon?

To me it's not as much about seeing the runs as gathering the community together... If we are to make this work, we'd need more internal support.

Another Attempt at a PSR Marathon?

I wanted to post this here, although I probably would be among the WORST people on the site to organize such a thing, but I want to send wishes that we would make another attempt at doing another marathon. In light of recent events, it would seem to me that the community might just be a little out o...

Re: Using the forums for transparency

Well, it seems that I am a bit late to the party this time around, but I think it right to make an apology to people here (not knowing whether or not any of you care about Emerald, but I digress). I do a ton of in-game research on Emerald, but I do tend to freely post information on the skype group ...

Re: Sapphire Damage Calc

I've never trusted any of the damage calculators for generation three for one reason: they all conflict with each other. For example: smogon's double battle multiplier uses either 75 or 66% (forgot which, but regardless)... and most of the other ones have issues with these hold items. How I do my ca...

Re: Self-verification

Things have been clarified (mostly on how the speedrun.com submission system works, and people have been in majority agreement... There really isn't much that is the issue right now... The system works as it is, other mods of the game can reverify runs (reject if need be), but the labels stay the sa...

Re: Self-verification

Me as well, even though I saw all but one of those runs LIVE... I still go back and look to see if there were issues (again, from an emerald runner's perspective). I treat a few places with more scrutiny than others: Route 116, Flannery fight, Norman fight, post Devon Scope Spinners, Winona's Gym, M...

Re: Self-verification

Looking through our main leaderboards on speedrun.com today, I noticed that a decent percentage of the top runs were verified by the person who did the run. To me, this defeats the purpose of having a verification system in the first place. Any top runner is qualified to be a moderator under the cu...

Yes Werster, but you can make more goals under the "Individual level" set... For instance, once upon a time Spinda% was quite popular, and I'd like to see if we can't add it and make it a sub category, I'd like to get the permission of the other emerald mods as well.

roushmore917 I'd like to apply for Moderator for Emerald because this game is my specialty. I have been playing this game since 2005 and speedrunning it for the last year and a half (only streaming for a year). As a member of the Emerald community, I have initiated ideas for improving the route, te...
