Re: Pokemon Blue All Trainers
I remember doing this in a Yellow randomizer race 2 years ago , this was before Instant Text in randomizers was a thing. My time was a few seconds over 7 hours, and it wasn't super optimized or anything. Obviously it's a randomizer so you have Pokemon you can't normally use, and I had a moveset wit...

Re: Still at it - Some more questions
Edit: Posted in the wrong thread, my bad SwiftRage Thanks for the help, though! I can determine the stats easier now. Is there a way to decrease the sound volume in Gambatte? Whenever I open Pokemon Red, the sound is really loud and it also disturbes streaming. Or should I better use another emulat...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
I disagree with having both listed. The leaderboard would look very odd if one person had a 1:54 in a game with an RTA of 1:54:50, yet somebody with a 1:53 had an RTA of 1:56:00 because of S+Q. I'm of the camp that if there's a switch, we only display what the timing method is, and if the runner re...

Re: Revisiting Timing Methods for Pokemon Speedruns (IGT vs RTA)
here's an idea i haven't seen mentioned before: assuming we make a switch from IGT to RTA in an individual category, we should keep IGT and RTA both visible on the leaderboard. because you can now see the difference between the old IGT and the new RTA, you can easily identify any cases where someone...

Re: Removing NPCs by Ditto Glitch'ing
The problem is that setting this up is slow, and for all categories we have many other methods at our disposal using item underflow, and they are much faster. For example, we can't get into Silph Co without beating Pokemon Tower, but if we wanted to, we could warp directly inside to any floor we wan...

Re: *~ minihacks ~*
Can someone make a romhack of Red/Blue where
doesn't give you instant text? I feel dirty playing a game that has such a blatant use of gameshark and would like to have this gameshark removed from the game so that Gen 1 can be clean again.

Re: Fun/Interesting category: 151 No reprogramming
Just saw this thread. It seems like what you're doing is very similar to the oldest Catch 'em All runs before item underflow was discovered. So this is basically the 2013 route but it's more optimized with new discoveries such as BTW for example. It would be interesting to do some runs with this rou...

Re: glitched complete dex route
It's known that the save corruption route for 0:00 finishes with 151 Pokedex so yeah, you literally just do that route and toss a different amount for warping to go to that room instead. The map ID for that is 130 (and index 0 is the closest warp which also happens to be the player's house in Pallet...

Can we have a romhack where every opponent Pokemon is Hombone and none of your Pokemon are allowed to learn moves that are effective against Rock types?

Re: What's allowed in No Major Glitches
Opinions below. What I think definitely should be banned: - Ban all T-Fly and effects. - Ban experience underflow since item underflow is banned, even though it's impossible to obtain as of now with allowed rules. - Ban WTW. Normal Safari escape is still okay. - Ban anything that requires resets dur...

It was fun last year, I don't see any reason for myself to participate as a runner this time around, but I'd be interested in helping out if I'm around whichever weekend it ends up being.

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless
Since November, there really have been only two fundamental factors at play in the Instant Text debate: (1) the semantics of whether Instant Text constitutes a "glitch", (2) the impact on how enjoyable it made the category. Back in November, it appeared the community's consensus was that the semant...

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless
Please stop using the words "oversight" and "intended". If you didn't actually have a part in the development of the game, you can't know whether something was "intended" or not. You can't know whether the developers knew about something and either couldn't fix it or didn't think it was important. P...

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless
This is confusing. I generally see four options that people suggest: A) One category called "Any% Glitchless" that allows IT B) A category called "Any% Glitchless" that allows IT and a category called "Any% Glitchless No IT" that doesn't C) One category called "Any% Glitchless" that bans IT D) A ca...

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless
Adding in what I discussed with Keizaron. Answering the original question, I definitely think IT should be allowed for Glitchless, there's no question there. But I know a lot of people will disagree. I don't really care what the final decision is, as long as IT gets to remain on a visible leaderboar...

Re: Poll: Revisiting Instant Text Ruling for Any% Glitchless
IT is silly. Most of the arguments are even sillier. Does it add more RNG to an already RNG-based game? Yes, but what does it matter? A normal run can execute everything perfectly and still die to Misty or Lance. A perfectly-executed and perfect luck IT run can still die to Misty or Lance. You can s...

Re: Bike Shop Instant Text Discussion/Ruling
I still stand by my original statements on this, instant text is NOT a glitch (and if you mention the word that starts with "over" and ends with "sight" then you're not contributing anything). It's not a glitch, but should it be allowed? Does it overcentralize the route? Does it make other strategie...

Re: New runner - Some questions
1 - If you have 13+ DV speed, you'll outspeed Starmie assuming you follow the current exp route. 12 DV ties, and 11 DV can tie in certain situations. The majority of Nidos will be slower than Starmie. 2 - Squirtle's stats don't matter much. Bad attack (10 at level 6) means you'll probably lose a tur...

Re: Item Underflow question
Ah right, I was confused because when I watch speedruns they dont seem to be there the runner seems to move from normal bag to the Pokeflute (or whatever their money one is) In Catch 'Em All your inventory is full because you make a massive shopping trip to fill up all of those item slots. In NSC y...
